If you've been sexually assaulted your need to know that it was not your fault. No one ever deserves to be assaulted and nothing you did gives someone the right to assault you.

If you have been sexually assaulted, it is advised that you seek medical attention. The staff at the medical center can conduct examines for injuries, as well as, discuss options regarding sexually transmitted disease, pregnancy, and HIV/AIDS.

If the assault has occurred within the last 72 hours you have the option of going to the hospital for an evidentiary examination. At the hospital the nurse or doctor will collect physical evidence for the investigation. It is best if you do not shower, brush your teeth, or wash your clothing before going to the hospital. Your clothes will be turned over to the investigator for evidence. You can either choose to bring a change of clothes or the hospital will provide clothing for you.
